Throughout their marriage, my mother was beaten by her first husband (my first stepfather). She would leave him, and return to him, many times. He never stopped beating her...
She married her second husband...my second stepfather. During the marriage, there was a time we were in the kitchen...and they were having an argument. She struck him. I stepped between them, and would not allow her to hit him anymore.
I had a relationship with a woman who had been abused. I don't know all of the details of her past, but know some men had beaten her.
A few months into our relationship, I wouldn't do what she wanted me to...and she shoved me. There had been other warning signs for me in our interactions (which she was demanding)...and I refused to tolerate this one.
I am wondering if, based on what they have been through...is in some way...having been physically abused (by other men)...and because I, and my second stepfather, didn't do so to them...that maybe something deep inside of them felt that, when they were frustrated and/or angry...one of the ways for them to show it was to physically.
